Meet Dr. John Pyun

Dr. John Pyun is a board-certified, comprehensive ophthalmologist dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality eye care to his patients. He brings a strong foundation in medicine and surgery, along with a genuine passion for helping others see the world more clearly. He takes a warm, patient-centered approach to care, taking the time to listen to his patients and tailor treatment to their individual needs. After working for several years in the Bay Area, he is excited to be returning to Southern California to care for his community closer to home.

Education & Experience

Dr. Pyun earned his bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley before pursuing his medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University. He then completed a transitional year at Scripps Mercy and went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the Loma Linda University Eye Institute. In recognition of his academic and clinical excellence, he was inducted into both the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.

Before joining Prestera Eye Medical Group, Dr. Pyun practiced as a comprehensive ophthalmologist at East Bay Ophthalmology.

Volunteer Work

Dr. Pyun is deeply passionate about global health and is committed to using his surgical skills to serve underprivileged communities around the world. Through his volunteer work, he has traveled to reach individuals in rural and underserved areas, performing cataract surgery and comprehensive eye exams to help restore and preserve vision for those with limited access to eye care to ensure that community members receive the corrective care they need to see clearly and live more independently.
